The Science Synthesis Prize is now open for submissions! Applicants are challenged to analyze the landscape of the renewable energy integration theory and practice, and highlight pivotal opportunities, solutions, and areas of investment for addressing integration complications. This prize is part of the new Grid Resource Integration Technologies (GRIT) Prize Series, funded by the Office of Electricity, created to catalyze research and development efforts across multiple offices focused on grid modernization.

We invite graduate students, researchers, industry partners, and other industry stakeholders to apply.

Why participate? Winning submissions will help inform the Department of Energy’s roadmap to better understand and address potential roadblocks relating to the integration of large-scale renewable energy into the electric grid. Plus, up to 10 teams will each receive $10,000, with up to 5 winners being awarded an additional $5,000 each for exceptional submissions.

Here’s what we’re looking for in the submission packet:

  • A concise cover page
  • Research paper (6,000 words max)
  • A 1/2-page biography for each author.
