“I am inspired by creating systems that solve a problem in an environmentally sound manner!”
As a long time public educator, I have learned the important of the team approach to solve a complex problem.
I started my career as a Special Education teacher in 1983 after earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Keene State College. For many years, I spent time in high schools working with teenagers with special needs. I earned a degree in Administration in May of 2000 and became first an Assistant Principal for three years, followed by a Principal for eleven years. In May of 2009 I earned a CAGS degree in School Leadership and became a Superintendent in 2015.
During the 2020-2021 school year I became a Yoga instructor.
In the summer of 2021 I visited a beautiful island called Vinalhaven Island and decided to apply for the position of Superintendent/Special Educator Director.
I started as the Superintendent on Vinalhaven in July of 2021 and am enjoying working with the community to ensure that all Vinalhaven students have equity in their ability to get to school each and every day! In addition, I teacher Yoga to community members and the elderly aa a public service.
The Electric Island Viking Team, along with the Maine Clean Communities organization , has been working together for the acquisition of an new electric bus to ensure that all students can get to school each day. In addition, we are planning the purchase of four solar panels to replace a flat roof at Vinalhaven School. As a team, we are planning the future of Vinalhaven together!
