Gerald Otim is the CoFounder and COO of Ensibuuko. Working with a team of 10, Otim has taken Ensibuuko from a simple idea born out of a conversation with a friend and now CoFounder, David, to one of the fastest fintech startups in Africa. Gerald (who prefers to go by his fast name, Otim) competed a Bachelors of Development Economics from Makerere University in Uganda’s Capital, Kampala. Immediately after, he joined Educate! a renown non-profit where he served at 2 management positions between 2010 and 2014 implementing an entrepreneurship education program for youth. At the same time, he held consulting positions as a Financial Literacy Expert with Uganda’s Central Bank and Youth Entrepreneurship Expert with the International Labour Organization (ILO). Gerald helped establish Ensibuuko in 2012, but only moved to work fulltime for his venture in 2014 after resigning his position his fulltime job. In 2014, for his work as a social impact leader and for helping turn Ensibuuko into the fastest growing and most impactful tech start-up in East Africa, Geraldd was name an Acumen Fellow, a program for social impact leaders.
