Jeff Shawver has been with Roanoke City Public Schools since 2013, where he holds the Senior Director of Physical Plants role. In this capacity, he manages building operations, maintenance, capital projects, warehouses, and grounds. Before his tenure at RCPS, Shawver spent six years as the Building Commissioner for the City of Roanoke, preceded by nearly seven years as the Deputy Building Commissioner. He retired after dedicating 28 years of service to the City of Roanoke. Shawver earned a Bachelor of Science in Construction and Business from Fort Hays State University and a Master of Public Administration from Walden University. He is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and holds various certifications in code enforcement. Additionally, Shawver is a certified master tradesman in Virginia and proudly served over 22 years in the U.S. Navy Reserves in the CEC/Seabees, followed by 11 years in the Army National Guard as an engineering officer. Shawver is married to Ann Harrity Allen, CPA, a consultant for local government finance offices in Harrisonburg, VA. They have two sons, Eric (42) and Matthew (38), and two granddaughters. The couple enjoys outdoor activities and attending church together. They also own a small farm in Catawba, Virginia, where Ann indulges her passion for horse shows.
