Amara Humphry is the co-founder and Chief Product Officer at Gooru, an education technology nonprofit that reaches over one million teachers and students worldwide. Amara created Gooru's learning navigator, a “GPS” for learning. Amara's work won the 2014 Tech Awards. Using her expertise about big data in education, she designed how students are presented with information about themselves and their choices of learning activities so they can direct their own learning. Amara is passionate about empowering every student with actionable data to realize their full potential. In 2011, Amara teamed up with a Google engineer to co-found Gooru with the mission to honor the human right to education. She established the learning architecture which organizes 20 million education resources and supports 150,000 open, free K-12 lessons, crowdsourced from teachers. Most recently, she extended comprehensive and intuitive analytics dashboards so younger students can also take advantage of powerful data. Amara put in place Gooru's unique product innovation process that enables teachers, students and administrators to co-create digital tools to enrich their practices. Amara received her Bachelors of Science in Product Design from Stanford University.
