Stephanie Dieter
Director / Producer at Indie Filmmaker
Atlanta, Georgia, United States
bio
I was born in Austria, raised in Mexico and trained in Los Angeles. Nowadays, people recognize me the most for my 20-time award-winning short, Cinder Pumpkin (2014), a coming-of-age Cinderella story that touches on bullying and inspires young people to be true to who they are. I started out in theater and transitioned into independent filmmaking with the dream of becoming an Indie Auteur one day. I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film + Television Production, 22 film awards, and my work has been featured in more that 25 international film festivals and digital platforms. Some of those include Shorts TV, the Academy-qualifying LA Shorts Fest, and the International Family Film Festival. What sets me apart when it comes to directing, is my passionate and dynamic approach. I appeal to EMOTION before anything else, and then use the tools and resources available to breathe actual, visceral, relatable life into a story. To me, that will always be the winning recipe to truly touch people (and so far I haven’t been wrong). I believe with all my heart that truth and specificity can be difficult to achieve, but they are the foundation of powerful storytelling. Beyond filmmaking, I am a lover of music, traveling, and cats of all sizes. No matter what, I always find myself involved in some sort of creative endeavor. It’s how I continuously grow and learn. When I am not directing, I serve as the CEO of TAPE HAUS STUDIO, a production company in the Metro Atlanta Area, where I have personally produced countless videos and documentaries for international brands and events such as the Academy Awards, Pepsi, Dell Computer and Habitat For Humanity.
