The SNAP M.App provides powerful visualizations of crime landscapes through a combined social network and geospatial approach. This M.App highlights groups, individuals, or places and allows users to uncover patterns and relationships significant to public safety in a SNAP.
HOW DOES YOUR SMART M.APP SOLVE WORLD PROBLEMS?
Crime is not fixated to a single place or person. People are increasingly more interconnected and mobile. It is essential that our tools for understanding crime, criminals, and environment account for this modern dynamism to comprehensively address crime problems. The SNAP M.App has been developed as a spatial data based tool which comprehensively highlights crime, criminals, environment and relationships among them.
Data is the starting point for crime fighting efforts at all spatial scales and the lack of comprehensive, relational, and easily understood data hampers the eradication of plaguing crime elements. Mapping capabilities of the SNAP M.App grant new importance to undervalued data sets such as home address data of offenders or suspects.
In sum, the SNAP M.App to solve two levels in current global problems in crime fighting. First, in the field agents and officers are provided with a better understanding of people and crime landscapes. Second, for the analysts and researchers, the SNAP M.App gives new necessary perspectives for research and reporting on crime. Crime data may be customized to focus on various categories ranging from neighborhood property crime to terrorism threats.
