The Climate Access Fund (CAF) is a nonprofit green bank that has been raising resources for and building public and private will to initiate community solar efforts benefitting Maryland’s low-income households and historically disinvested communities since 2018. CAF serves as a project financier and steps into the role of developer specifically for community-owned community solar projects up to 1 MW with at least 50% low-income subscribers receiving an at minimum 20% discount on their electricity bills. As a developer, we prioritize keeping economic benefits hyperlocal through community ownership, local hiring, work-based learning opportunities, and community-based subscriber enrollment.
