We are creating a renewable energy desalination unit to produce electricity and fresh water by using low-temp thermal energy and waste brines while reducing carbon emissions and environmental discharge. The challenge with this concept involves the fouling and corrosion aspects of heat exchangers with geothermal fluid and will be solved by developing heat exchangers using high-temperature corrosion-resistant alloys and 3D printing technology. This solution will have cross-industrial applications such as aerospace, military, IT, and medical.
