The official rules document for this prize.

The following modifications were made as of November 27, 2024: 

  • Appendix D: Revised to remove construction permit documentation from the Submission Documentation Checklist for both the Luminaire and Connected Systems Tracks. 
  • Luminaire Track – U.S. Installation: Revised to specify energy code compliance documentation in the form of a COMcheck report that quantifies the lighting power density of the installed applications.

The following modifications were made as of June 25, 2024: 

  • Luminaire Track – Life Cycle Assessment: Clarified what is required to verify the LCA
  • Luminaire Track – Replaceable Components: Clarified what tools are considered acceptable as “conventional, readily-available tools”
  • Luminaire Track – Materials and Sustainability Innovation: Revised to explicitly include reduced embodied carbon as an example of innovation that can earn points in this category
  • Luminaire Track – U.S. Installation: Clarified that the sensor port is required for each luminaire at the installation site, except for continuous runs of linear luminaires where the sensor port is only required at one end of the run 
  • Connected Systems Track – Energy Reporting: Clarified that energy reporting is only required of luminaires and attached devices
  • Connected Systems Track – Fault Detection and Diagnostics: Clarified that notification of faults should occur within 60 minutes of the fault
  • Connected Systems Track - Life Cycle and Sustainability Innovation: Revised to explicitly include reduced embodied carbon as an example of innovation that can earn points in this category
  • Connected Systems and Luminaire Tracks – U.S. Installation: Revised to no longer require construction permit documentation for the installation.
