The League of American Bicyclists recently showed that 40 percent of fatal bike accidents are a result of a rider being struck from behind. One 2005 Danish study of 2,000 cyclists claimed that all-day lights reduced crashes by between 30 and 50 percent. Bike lights are scarcely used because of short battery life, annoyance of charging or replacing batteries, and forgetting to turn off lights after a ride. With new advancements low cost, flexible solar panes, we envision a self charging bike light embedded directly into the handle bar making staying safe on the road easy.
