When geographical location such as artic / antartic location or any other where very less sunlight is available or weather conditions such as cloudy,stormy,snowy environment may make harnessing of solar energy very difficult.
So idea here is to harness energy from indoor lighting or ambient light .
Recent advances in solar technology has made it implementable.

With help of PMICs ,cypress semiconductor and amorphous silicon instead of crystalline,it is possible to harness solar energy from indoor lighting .

2)In may 2017, multinational team has come out with newer version of solar cells called dye sentisized solar cells.These cells are much cheaper.
They use copper as electrolyte instead of rare materials.
Best thing about them is their efficiency is whopping 29 %as compared to traditional 16 % or 20%of space solar cells.
3) Research at VTT research centre Finland ltd also is supporting this idea .
