South Arkansas Green Energy Project

The MAKE-IT Strategies track creates a tremendous opportunity for rural, underserved, development opportune communities to attract Clean Energy Manufacturing businesses to their community. It is this spirit that unites The City of Strong Arkansas, Southwest Arkansas Planning and Development District (SWAPDD), the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff (UAPB, a Historically Black University) and the Black Community Development and Chamber of Commerce of Arkansas (BCDCCA) as the South Arkansas Green Energy Project for the purpose of applying for the MAKE-IT Strategies Track Engage Prize. For the City of Strong, clean energy is vital because it has the potential to boost economic growth, promote energy independence, and improve our inhabitants' economic status, health and well-being. Partnering with these esteem organizations will strengthen our position as a place for Clean Energy Manufacturing, that can partner with UAPB, an HBCU that has extensive research projects in the Solar Energy sector.
