PROCAFE

Productores de Café de Puerto Rico, Inc. (PROCAFE) is a non-profit organization that represents the collective aspirations of over 500 independent coffee farmers organized as a co-op, and stands as a beacon of resilience and innovation in the mountains of Puerto Rico.
Born in the aftermath of Maria (Cat-5 Hurricane), PROCAFE has revitalized the coffee industry and the environment through partnerships such as the "Proyecto para la Montaña" with ConPRmetidos and the "Revive el Cafetal Puertorriqueño" project in collaboration with the Hispanic Federation. These projects have subsidized over 3.2 million high-quality coffee trees in the past five years. Having symbolically planted a tree for every Puerto Rican, we are now focusing on our next goal of impacting over 10,000 acres and supporting an additional 2,000 coffee farmers. This project, “Café del Futuro”, is being implemented along with other local community-based organizations, including La Liga de Cooperativas de Puerto Rico and the University of Puerto Rico.
