Microporous Oxides Science and Technology, LLC provides an aqueous suspension of a mixture of silica and titania nanoparticles (2 - 7 nm diameter) that offers several benefits:
Ceramic coatings are more durable than most organic coatings
Coating is self-curing on exposure to UV light - no heating required
Titania is photocatalytic and degrades organic deposits
Silica is negatively charged and repels many inorganic materials that also generally have a negative surface charge
Coating is hydrophilic, which promotes sheeting of rainwater that can wash off loose dirt
In an ongoing limited sample, 2-year field test, this coating did not show any degradation and provided a 2-3% increase in power output when compared to non-coated panels
