Short description of planned workforce training initiative
Solar manufacturing training for freshman / transfer engineering students and establishing a commercial training facility for new/incumbent workers in the solar industry.
Georgia’s premier research institution, Georgia Institute of Technology (GIT) and the largest PV module manufacturer, Qcells, has partnered to develop a unique industry-focused PV manufacturing experience for incoming freshman and transfer students. This course will fast track the PV skills development of interested students with hands-on learning at GT and exposure to the industrial processes through a Qcells Dalton facility tour. The project will include installation of a commercial cell line focused on training for new/incumbent workers downstream.
