Sunflare Solar is an existing solar photovoltaic cell and module manufacturer with patented CIGS technologies. Sunflare’s supply chain is independent of China.
Sunflare has solar cell manufacturing in Europe supported by large grants from the EU and the country of Italy, and now seeks to manufacture and configure more modules in the USA. Sunflare has been very successful in adapting their modules to mobile applications like RVs, Overlanding, and Car Top solar modules for topping off electric cars and delivery vans. Sunflare also has a product for roof top solar suitable for metal and commercial roofs. This grant will allow a significant expansion of Sunflare’s USA solar module manufacturing operations by creating a complete training program and ensuring a pool of well-trained workers and managers.
Sunflare’s cells and modules are uniquely light and durable. Cells use vapor deposition with 10% of the greenhouse gas emissions of traditional silicon panel manufacturing on a semi-flexible substrate, like CD-ROM tech. Solar modules are 1.75 mm thick, with flexible stainless-steel backing, and weigh 25% the weight of traditional silicon panels. They use no cadmium or glass, but a transparent polymer top-sheet. Cells in Sunflare modules all have bypass diodes and can be placed in variable rows and columns for different sized modules for semi-customized installation. An improved perovskite formula has already been validated by UCLA laboratories.
This entry is to do upskill training for module manufacturing and configuration in the USA.
