Okovate Sustainable Energy

Okovate is a 100% Black-owned and-operated group building value-add services within agrivoltaic solar research, development, and maintenance operations. We partner with crop farmers in select markets to develop agrivoltaic systems on active farmland.

Agrivoltaics is a type of dual-use solar deployment that optimizes land use for both solar photovoltaic energy generation and agriculture production. As the world increasingly experiences the impacts of the global climate crisis, agrivoltaics is an essential part of the solution. American Farmland Trust (AFT) estimates 83 percent of new solar built in the next few decades will likely be sited on agricultural acreage. While the deployment of solar energy is a key component of the larger climate solution, it should not come at the expense of farm land - especially when the global demand for food is increasing.
