Miles Braxton is a clean energy risk manager who has worked in the commercial solar industry for the last 5 years and built experience in business development, project finance, array design, project development, asset management, and risk management: insurance, bonding, asset safety, and incident prevention. Gaining experience through leading solar firms such as Sol Systems, Goldman Sachs Renewable Power, and Summit Ridge Energy, Miles has built a repository of lessons learned, having been involved with derisking every stage of solar project development. In 2020, Miles co-founded BlackOak Collective, a non-profit boasting a network of over 220 Black students, professionals, and advocates in the sustainability space. From 2020-Q4 2022, Miles served as the Director of Partnerships and executed partnership agreements with Microsoft, Leyline Renewable Capital, Recurrent Energy, Sun Tribe, and many other organizations in order to offer sustainability career opportunities directly to BlackOak members through virtual recruitment programs and job board postings. Miles now sits on BlackOak’s advisory board and leads strategic efforts for the Green Gateways program in which BlackOak representatives go to universities and HBCUs to speak to students of color about how to start their environmental careers. Miles also sits on the Board of Society of Black Solar Professionals (SBSP) and an EV Charging startup based in Durham, NC. Miles graduated from the University of Virginia with a B.S. in Environmental Science as a Rodman Scholar, minoring in Engineering Business. In 2020, he completed a year-long hybrid program, Financing and Deploying Clean Energy, at the Yale Center of Business and Environment (CBEY).
