Gabriela Cantú Westendar tiene una Maestría en Ciencias con Especialidad en Lengua y Literatura por la UANL y una Licenciatura en Estudios Internacionales por la UDEM. 
Gabriela obtuvo el Premio Nacional de Poesía Ramón López Velarde en 2012 y Mención Honorífica en el Premio Regional Carmen Alardín en 2011. Así mismo, recibió la beca, en el área de poesía, del Centro de Escritores de Nuevo León en 2006. 
Gabriela es Directora de Difusión Cultural de la Universidad Metropolitana de Monterrey (UMM), profesora de escritura creativa en el Tec de Monterrey, co-fundadora de la revista de arte y literatura Otra orilla, fundadora y miembro del consejo editorial de Primer Cuadro (Casa Editorial de la UMM) y miembro del Consejo Editorial del Fondo Editorial de Nuevo León y de Grupo Reforma. 
Su libro titulado "Una flama de seda como la nada" fue seleccionado para publicarse por el Fondo Raúl Rangel Frías. Así mismo, Gabriela es autora de seis libros de poesía: Material peligroso, Naturaleza muerta, Poemas del árbol, El filo de la playa, El efecto y Tejidos del tiempo. Sus obras han sido publicadas en México, España, Estados Unidos, Inglaterra, China, Colombia, Argentina, Ecuador, Cuba, Brasil y Chile.

Gabriela Cantú Westendarp holds a Master in Science with a specialization in Language and Literature from the UANL and a B.A. in International Studies from the UDEM.
Gabriela won the Ramón López Velarde National Poetry Prize in 2012 and received an honorable mention in the Carmen Alardín Regional Prize in 2011. In 2006, Gabriela was recipient of the scholarship, in the area of poetry, from the Writers Center of Nuevo León.
Gabriela is Director of Cultural Promotion at the Metropolitan University of Monterrey (UMM), professor of creative writing at the Tec de Monterrey, co-founder of the art and literature magazine Otra Orilla, founder and member of the Editorial Board of Primer Cuadro (publishing house of the UMM) and member of the Editorial Board of the Editorial Fund of Nuevo León and Grupo Reforma.
Her book entitled "Una flama de seda como la nada" was selected to be published by the Raúl Rangel Frías Fund. She is also author of six books of poetry: Material peligroso, Naturaleza muerta, Poemas del árbol, El filo de la playa, El efecto and Tejidos del tiempo. Her works have been published in Mexico, Spain, the United States, England, China, Colombia, Argentina, Ecuador, Cuba, Brazil and Chile.
