The first thing a mother and a child coming to a hospital see is the exterior, the hospital they are going to is modernly designed which gives some comfort to the mother and a sense of wonder to the child. When they enter a hospital, they see a gantly colored walls and brightly lit room (preferably natural light) and hear a quiet and soothing music playing.
Then they go to check in and are given complimentary chocklets, which helps the release of endorphins. While they are checking in they look around to see the details around them, a few beautiful plants, a painting or two and maybe even some informative yet a bit humorous posters.
Presumobly after that they would go to the waiting room where they could find some coloring books (few pages of black and white characters that can be painted, printed in the hospital, sceens could be a bit goofy and contain some hospital eqipment, nurses and doctors so the posible anxiety of the child is lessened) and wooden colors for the child, there would also be an area in the waiting room that would be covored in mats, so they can sit down and draw, also the designated area could have a slide, maybe even a small trampolin (The designated area would be soundproof so other patients are not disturbed).
There could also be an employee whose sole purpose is to make children laugh, making mothers happier and more relaxed.
Additional these would in my opinion greatly improve the mood of the patients
- Slides next to the stairs myght work
- Entrance to the pediatric department might be decorated to look like entrance to the wonderland (with use of cardboard cutouts and lights)
-Or even holograms and projections to entertain people while they wait
-For the music I would suggest youtube, there is a lot of artist who would be willing to make music for hospitals.
-Concerning the chocolate it would be possible to negotiate something with any ot the chocolate factories.It might be even possible to get free chocolate in exchange for advertising.
