UNSW Rocketry

UNSW Rocketry is a dedicated student-led team from the University of New South Wales, committed to advancing rocketry knowledge, hands-on engineering, and STEM outreach in Australia. Established with the goal of providing students with a platform to apply classroom knowledge to real-world aerospace challenges, our team has grown into one of Australia’s leading university rocketry groups.

We strive for technical innovation and excellence, regularly competing in events like the Australian University Rocketry Competition (AURC) and the prestigious Spaceport America Cup. Our ambitious projects include developing advanced hybrid rocket motors, designing two-stage rockets, and leading Australia’s first university-based space shot initiative. Our technical work not only hones our skills in rocketry design, fabrication, and testing but also aligns with the aerospace industry’s evolving standards and sustainability goals.

Beyond technical achievements, UNSW Rocketry is committed to community engagement through STEM education. We conduct outreach workshops and Bootcamp sessions to introduce high school students across New South Wales—especially in rural and remote communities—to the fundamentals of rocketry and aerospace. These efforts aim to inspire the next generation of engineers and aerospace professionals, bringing the excitement of space closer to students who might not otherwise have access to such resources. Through both our engineering projects and our outreach, we aspire to make a lasting impact on Australia’s aerospace industry and encourage a broader, more inclusive future for STEM.
