For structures created on Mars there will always be the need for collecting raw materials to build them. This scenario shows some basic construction equipment needed, a skid steer and a trailer. If the regolith collection site is located a fair distance away, the use of a tractor type vehicle may be better because they travel faster. Initially, all astronauts should be able operate any of the small to medium sized construction equipment.
Most equipment should probably be run remotely. That being from some kind of simulation command room located in the vicinity. This would promote astronaut safety and minimize personnel injury. Upon occasion this equipment may still need to be manually operated.
Training on construction equipment should be initiated on earth. With follow-on experience gained on Mars.
