Limited Tech Prompts Unlimited Potential in Animal Tracking

When technology changes, we must change with it - but what if there isn’t a current technology we know of? In partnership, NASA and The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) are studying what is needed for next-generation animal tracking to fruition. In this first challenge, they’ve asked the public to share their ideas on how to use emerging satellite technology in combination with existent systems.

Animal Tracking as it stands today has a number of limitations.  The current processes overall utilizes a number of satellites, lacks data bandwidth, and incurs excessive costs for the transmission of any data collected. The data itself has shortcomings as well as tracking has limited geographic and time periods in which it can collect information.

With three cash prizes available, who will revolutionize how we recover and maintain animal populations?
