CLIMATHON 2021 powered by ideanco will be held on October 2 - 12, 2021, connecting innovators in 9 cities across North America and Asia to resolve three core challenges: Agriculture, Air Pollution, and Mobility. Ideanco Climathon 2021 selected cities are Dubai, Beirut, New York, Boston, Tampa, Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver and San Diego.

Program

Ideanco Climathon, an initiative by the idea innovator company – ideanco, is an iconic Climate Change pillar of the ideanco Lab under challenges. Ideanco Climathon is a global Climate Change challenge, which brings together the challenges of focus cities in particular countries across the globe with the local and global innovators who have the passion, expertise, and capability to crack such great challenges. The outcome is the impact of the real innovative solution that will be beneficial for the communities locally, regionally, and above all, globally.

The Ideanco’s live sessions powered by Zoom video conferencing. You will also have a chat system for interaction with coaches, mentors and innovators only inside the Climathon challenge sessions. Ideanco will be providing a calendar schedule for each coach/Mentor to schedule calls during the challenge based on their availability.

What Will you Learn?

Building on the success of the first climate change challenge in the Middle East, Climathon Dubai 2019, CLIMATHON 2021 will give innovators the opportunity to learn how to transform challenges into business ideas by defining and recognizing the core of the challenge, create ideas and pitch solutions to elite entrepreneurs from the industry. Using the power of crowdsourcing, a legacy business model for Ideanco since 1999, the ideanco Lab team has worked extensively with innovators coming from all across the globe to find a solution with a global impact on the key challenges we are facing on our amazing planet Earth. 

Chosen cohorts of innovators to tackle the set challenges virtually for a full 72-hours in each city, before pitching their ideas in front of relevant and well-respected judges coming from the climate change sector. These ideas can develop into tangible sustainable solutions, projects and potential startups that address climate challenges in all cities across the globe.  ENGAGE NOW

Problem Statement

• Mobility — Imagine, if we can put an end to air pollution! Then, breathing fresh oxygen is our right.
• Air Pollution — Imagine, if we integrate clean mobility to our transportation! Then, CO2 emission is cut by one third.

Judging Criteria

Apply today to the IDEANCO CLIMATHON 2021 and get a chance to solve global climate change challenges and to take your concept to the next level and be exposed to elite Judges aligned with sustainability and climate change. Innovators (entrepreneurs, scholars, policy makers, students and professionals) are allowed to enter the challenge.

All individuals should be over 16 to enter the IDEANCO CLIMATHON 2021.

Preferably to have the innovator in the Climate Change, Food Security, Sustainability and Renewable Energy industry with a special highlight on the pre-identified challenges of the IDEANCO CLIMATHON 2021:

Selection Criteria

Climathon program consists of three sequential linear programs:

Greenhouse

5 days climate training powered by ideanco Academy is open for all innovators across the globe. All Innovators receive a certificate of attendance/completion at the end of the Greenhouse program.

•  
  • The selection committee consists of prominent and elite technical judges from the sustainability and climate change industry (private and public sectors) will choose the top innovators and will group them into Cohorts (minimum three and maximum six per Cohort) that are suitable for the IDEANCO CLIMATHON 2021 platform.
  • Innovators will go through a daily online exam (5 minutes duration) to answer questions related to their daily learnings.
  • The highest-ranked innovators from the Greenhouse daily exams will be qualified to enter the C-Lab. A score of 3.8 average and above is a must to be qualified for entering the C-Lab.
    • Selection is based on the score and also based on the individual’s commitment, enthusiasm and team work during the academy process.
    • Judge committees selects 54 innovators for the C-Lab (Climate Lab) and group them into cohorts of maximum 6 innovators each. 40% of the chosen innovators per cohorts are from the local chosen cities and the remaining 60% are coming from all over the world. The idea is to create a diversified team of people to create the future innovation of climate change

C-Lab

3 days Climate-Lab challenge platform for the selected 54 innovators grouped into 9 cohorts and working in a competition to find solutions for the identified three challenges in the nine identified cities.

C-Pitch

Cohorts pitch innovative solution at the Climate-Pitch virtually to prominent judges.

Semi-finals:

• The chosen 9 cohorts for the three challenges within the 9 cities will be made available virtually to pitch their findings for the IDEANCO CLIMATHON platform. Each challenge mentioned above is shared with three cities and cohorts on each shared challenge from different cities will be competing with one another to be qualified for the semi-finalist/challenge.
• Judges to choose top Cohort per challenge and per qualify them form the finals as per challenge score card.

Finals

• All three semi-finalists for the three challenges will be competing against one another by pitching their innovative ideas to elite judges where ranking takes place as a result of the outcome — First, Second and Third Winners.
• Judges award the top Cohort Winner for the winning challenge
• The top cohort winner to be announced followed by cohort winner’s ranking
• Greenhouse — 7 days climate training powered by ideanco Academy is open for all innovators across the globe. All Innovators receive a certificate of attendance/completion at the end of the Greenhouse program. • C-Pitch — Cohorts pitch innovative solution virtually to prominent judges. Winning Cohorts to accelerate ideas at Ideanco Launch powered by ideanco Lab.

C-PITCH JUDGING CRITERIA

At IDEANCO CLIMATHON the judges will evaluate semi-finalists during the challenge pitch and results will be given on the same day to all semi-finalists as per judging criteria below:

Expenses

IDEANCO CLIMATHON 2021 is virtual program. The organizers of the event will not cover expenses nor accommodation for any of the cohorts. Each of the Semi-finalists or cohorts are expected to pay for their own hotel stay, and transportation. As an alternative, chosen cohorts can work on the challenges virtually. 

How Do I win?

To be eligible for the Prize, your Cohort solution proposal for the challenges, at minimum:

• Attend the Greenhouse and score high on your daily exams to enter the C-Lab
• Satisfy the Judging Scorecard requirements for C-Lab
• Presentation skills for the five minutes elevator pitch and win the hearts of Judges at the C-Pitch
