Amani has an extensive background developing programs to equip marginalized comunities across several states including MI, PA, NM, NY, IL, OH, CA, SC, WA and D.C. to be civically engaged. Sawari's expertise is at the intersection of criminal justice transformation and voting rights with experience directing and developing Justice Service programs at the state and national level. Sawari is a spoken word artist whose compositions are embraced as a tool to facilitate reflective dialogue. As the founder of SawariMedia she's written and distributed thousands of print publications to increase civic engagement among people in prisons and jails across 33 states. She's earned her B.A. in Law Economics and Public Policy as well as Media Communication Studies from the University of Washington.
