(949) 378 0807 <andyzalay2@gmail.com> Mr Zalay is President of eWind Consultants and is committed to developing practical, innovative and meaningful solutions to the water/energy shortage facing the Colorado Basin (so called water/energy nexus) ranging from water conservation, water reclamation to sea water desalination using renewable energy based on the following experience; • Served as Owner’s Engineer to build the Capital Wind farm to supply 250,000MWh/yr. of renewable energy for the City of Sydney desalination project. • Assembled team for Water for WestTM Project for Lower Colorado Basin to supply 4 million-acre feet (4MAF) of fresh water using water desalination along the Pacific Coast and applied for 11,000-acre lease from BLM for the Yucca Mtn site for a 5GW Energy Park to power the 4MAF desalination plant at the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS) and other Federal sites • Drafted EIR for Colorado River Desalination and Cogeneration Project • Over a span of 28 years, he was responsible for the development, installation and operation of over 3,000 MW of wind farms in United States and Australia. • Installed and operated the first large scale commercial wind turbine generators in the USA including Holec Windmatic, Polenko, Bonus (now Siemens) and Nordtank (now Vestas) wind turbine generators (WTGs). • Led UltraWind team to design DOE/NREL Advanced Wind Turbine with torque limiting gearbox and supported the commercialization of the Windflow 500 WTG. • Published more than 71 technical papers and reports in the field of wind turbine design, wind resource evaluation, environmental consulting and related disciplines • Certificate from “Solar Energy International MW Scale PV Design Consideration and Case Studies” • Registered Professional Mechanical Engineer (PE) in California and Arizona, • Licensed Acoustic Consultant in Orange County, California • MBA from Alabama A&M University • M.S. and B.S. in Aeronautical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
