Ashok works at the intersection of clean technologies, IoT, sustainable development goals and smart communities. Working closely with the under-served and disadvantaged communities, he developed state-of-the-art technologies and models to address the issues of clean energy access and sustainable development, with a specific focus on smart microgrids, smart agriculture, and sustainable livelihood. His innovations and models have received several national and international awards and accolades. Ashok has implemented the solutions into the field in India, and is now scaling these into sub-Saharan Africa and the Americas. Ashok continuously works with universities and institutes in India, USA, and UK on R&D of new technologies and cyber-physical-social models for developing sustainable smart communities. Ashok has been a consultant to several development organizations, such as the World Bank, UK-DFID, KfW, GiZ, ADB, PFAN, etc.
Prior to founding SunMoksha, Ashok worked for semiconductor equipment manufacturer, Applied Materials, in the Bay Area, USA, for a decade, and then headed the India Operations of a fab automation start-up, Aquest Systems, in Bay Area, USA. Prior to Applied Materials, he worked at MTCI, in Los Angeles USA, developing waste-to-energy technology.
Ashok is a member of the Executive Council and Humanitarian Activities Committee at IEEE Bangalore. He is committee member of IEEE Smart Village’s Southeast Asia Working Group, and co-chair of the North America Working Group.
Ashok earned his undergraduate degree from IIT Kanpur India, and his Ph.D. from University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA. He is a Citizen of the USA.
