Brett Lutz, PE is the Director of Engineering & Construction and leads an experienced team of professionals who handle all aspects of a turnkey project. The team includes engineers, designers, project developers, estimators, project managers, field supervisors, and tradesmen including welders, pipefitters, sheet metal technicians, electricians, and mechanics.
Brett began his career working for Hunton Trane, attending Trane’s Graduate Training Program. A rigorous five-month program for college graduates it covers a wide spectrum of HVAC related topics. A sample of topics include psychometrics, load calculations, electrical basics, refrigeration cycle, equipment components, chilled water system design, airside system design, and applications. Upon completion of the course Brett began work in new equipment sales working with consulting engineers and mechanical contractors to design and install HVAC systems and equipment.
Brett’s desire to have a more direct impact on performance of buildings, led him to move to Hunton Services, earn his Professional Engineering License, and develop Hunton Service’s Energy and Sustainability team. The team’s focus is providing economically driven, energy savings options to customers, which improve the value and functionality of the building while improving the comfort of the occupants. His specialty is in dew point management and is frequently brought in to lower the humidity in both process and comfort applications.
In 2021 Brett earned a Master of Engineering degree and is now responsible for all engineering, project development, and operations for contracting projects at Hunton Services. When not supporting his team and customers, Brett loves spending as much time as possible with his kids Elena (6), Jacob (4), and his amazing wife Elizabeth, who is the Vice President of Sustainability for a major REIT.
