Dr. Shih has over 30 years of experience managing research teams both in academia and small business. A small business entrepreneur, Dr. Shih spun off start-ups where he secured research funding from NASA, Air Force, and industry through Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) awards and consulting projects, leading to a technology transfer licensing agreement with a major aerospace industry entity. Dr. Shih remains active in innovative research and has recently filed a provisional patent application on a pneumatically actuated robotics device. In 2008, Dr. Shih was inducted as an Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) and is a member of Sigma Gamma Tau, the National Aerospace Engineering Honor Society. Dr. Shih holds a PhD in Aerospace Engineering.
