Dr. Eric W. RIDDICK is currently a research entomologist with the Agricultural Research Service, USDA, in Stoneville, Mississippi, United States. His research centers on behavior, ecology, and nutrition of insects and mites, with special emphasis on predators and parasitoids for biocontrol services. Other research is considering the utilization of native, solitary bees as pollinators of fruits and vegetables on small farms. Another study is examining the potential of using insect waste, i.e., frass, as alternative fertilizer (to replace fishmeal) for crops in agricultural systems.
