The Base 11 Space Challenge brings students from all backgrounds to the next level. What was once the bar has been shattered as students push toward a goal that was at one time out of grasp for anything short of the resources of an entire country. I hope that being the first university team to launch a rocket into space is just the first step on my long journey in the rewarding field of aerospace. Richard Fleming, one of my two boy scout mentors throughout high school has long inspired me. Mr. Fleming was an electronics engineer for NASA on the lunar mission. The standard of quality that he lives and expects has caused me to not only take a second look at solutions, but a third, fourth and beyond to find exactly how and why what can fail. His endless example of humility and service has played a tremendous role to make me into the man that I am today. I look forward to continuing my career at SpaceX or NASA as a Data Acquisition and Controls engineer, and I look forward to what lies in the future with other members of my team as we enter the workforce and world of business.
