Professional geologist with 30 years of exploration experience ranging from reconnaissance through discovery, deposit delineation and resource calculations including 15 years of Archean lode gold experience in the Abitibi and Slave provinces. Project and target generation is what I have focussed on almost exclusively as a consultant for the past 14 years of my 30 year geologic career. I have designed a GIS-based neural-net methodology to integrate and analyze large and complex data packages with diverse data layers (geophysics, geochemistry, geology, remote sensing, etc.). Using this statistically robust spatial analysis approach I have generated targets for Archean lode gold deposits, low sulphidation epithermal gold, sediment-hosted gold (Carlin style), intrusive-hosted and unconformity-related U, porphyry Cu-Au, Au and Cu skarns, and bulk-tonnage orogenic gold for companies including B2 Gold and Gold Fields.
Regional and property-scale analysis has included gold projects in Nicaragua, Russia, Uzbekistan, Brazil, Burkina Faso, China, India, Columbia, and the Tethyan metallogenic belt from Tibet to Turkey. In addition I have undertaken property evaluations, mine tours, and fieldwork in Angola, South Africa, Canada, Republic of Congo, Mexico, Venezuela and French Guyana.
The nature of my work has translated into strong GIS based spatial analysis skills including cluster and complexity analysis. Spatial analysis identifies features relevant to each specific target type and determines the degree of spatial correlation. These features are incorporated in the neural net and mineral potential maps are then created. The neural net approach offers quick and efficient regional screening and target prioritization which translates into a competitive advantage.
