Gabriela Brenes
Communications Manager at Winwins
Buenos Aires, Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires, Argentina
bio
I am a Costa Rican journalist with a passion for transparency, civic spirit, and social cohesion. In a Venn diagram with digital strategy, social research and multimedia literacy, I'd be right where the circles overlap. I have one mantra: "Be ignited or be gone." Learning is my passion, storytelling my best ally so far. A team player, I'm always on the lookout for transcendent stories and storytellers. I went from performing piano soloist at The Weill Recital Hall, Carnegie Hall, to Executive Producer at the radio teaching program “Proyecto Contrastes”, then as Communications Liaison for GNU Solidario and Winwins. A fan of Open Data, I believe that music and data journalism prove how the same prime elements can give birth to countless new pieces. Since 2012, I've been a staff member at HacksHackers Buenos Aires. I'm a Chicas Poderosas Ambassador in Argentina, leading a community of more than 700 members. I've been selected to be a Dow Jones - Chicas Poderosas fellow at the Wall Street Journal (New York). I'm currently based in Argentina, producing VR products with ÑoÑo-Transmedia, and helping create synergy among schools, local governments and enterprises through Winwins.
