Gibran DuBois Washington is a Program Manager/Director for the Eco-D Department at EcoWorks where he supports and advises on community-centered led sustainability, energy efficiency services paired with education, and integrated health and safety home repair programs for residents. He holds a Master of Science in Geology from Wayne State University and a Bachelor of Science in Geology from Wayne State University. His research experience focused on geochemistry, mineral resource exploration, using Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and integrated data analysis has afforded experiences in North America from northern Ontario to Nevada. His previous roles include serving as a National Science Foundation Graduate Fellow (GK-12) in Detroit Public Schools in STEM education, team leader for the Student Conservation Association, and Youth Energy Squad coordinator serving with EcoWorks as an AmeriCorps Green Schools Coordinator. His interests include innovative resilience technologies, renewable energy, and developing interdisciplinary strategies for energy democracy. Outside interests include cooking, reading, eating good food, listening to wide-ranging music genres, gardening, sustainable technologies, and all exploring things sci-fi with his daughter, Gabrielle, a class of ’23 graduate from Cass Technical High School and incoming freshman at Wayne State University.
