Gibran supports and advises community-centered and led sustainability, energy efficiency education, and healthy home integrated services for residents. His previous roles include serving as Program Manager with EcoWorks responsible for managing utility energy efficiency and holistic home repair upgrade programs for residents, a National Science Foundation Graduate Fellow (GK-12) in Detroit Public Schools in STEM education, as a team leader for the Student Conservation Association, and as the Youth Energy Squad coordinator serving with EcoWorks as an AmeriCorps Green Schools Coordinator. Gibran’s interests and work inquiries include innovative technologies, renewable energy, and developing interdisciplinary strategies for energy democracy. Supporting and being a membership in community focused cooperative minded organizations like the Detroit Peoples Food Cooperative and Polar Bear Sustainable Energy Cooperative provides needed reference and grounding to continuously develop insights for dynamic urban environments.
