My wife Vickie Kettlewell and I own and operate Sunup Ranch, a Quarter Horse and Angus cow-calf operation in Minnesota, started by her parents. We have been actively working and managing the ranch since 1993. We have placed almost the entire ranch land under permanent conservation easement. The ranch was a research site for the University of Minnesota Extension Silvopasture Study for three years. We host several community involvement events including Harvest Dinner and ranch tours. Sunup Ranch is an American Quarter Horse Legacy Breeder (50 plus years of raising Quarter Horses), an AQHA Ranching Heritage Breeder, a Minnesota Farm Family of the Year, utilizing rotational grazing. Prior to ranch management, I worked in journalism for 12 years. I am chairman of our Town Board and serve on several volunteer committees including the Cass County Extension Service (University of Minnesota Extension), Cass County Farm Bureau, Minnesota Quarter Horse Association and American Quarter Horse Association (National Director).
