Quinten Messbarger has, for the past twenty-eight years, worked with hundreds of Missouri entrepreneurs to launch and grow exciting, high-potential ventures. Many of these ventures originate from the University of Missouri as researchers work towards commercializing their intellectual property. Currently he serves as the President & CEO of the Missouri Innovation Center, which manages and operates the MU Life Science Business Incubator. His focus is entrepreneurial finance including SBIR/STTR grants, angel capital, and venture capital. Currently he assists technology entrepreneurs with opportunity assessments, R&D planning, new venture creation and securing equity investments.
Activities have included publishing an authoritative text on angel investing written by Arthur Lipper III, participation in the founding of the National Association of Seed and Venture Funds (NASVF), including serving on the strategic planning committee of NASVF, serving on the Missouri Venture Capital Roundtable, working with numerous Missouri companies to raise millions of dollars in equity utilizing two different tax credit programs, and assisting in the process of creating the New Enterprise Creation Act which subsequently led to the formation of Prolog Ventures, Missouri first seed venture capital firm. Quinten serves as a board member for the Missouri Biotechnology Association and as a staff member for Centennial Investors Angel Network.
Additionally, he is a trained/certified local and regional instructor for the National Science Foundation I-Corps program and has mentored many teams including those in Columbia, St. Louis and Rolla. He has also served as the Mentor for three teams that participated in the national NSF I-Corps program (2017 New Jersey, 2019 Philadelphia, 2020 Atlanta).
Quinten earned his Bachelor of Science degrees in marketing and logistics from the University of Missouri as well as an MBA. He has earned the Incubator Management Certificate and Advanced Mentor Development Certification from the National Business Incubation Association.
