Dr. Jianzhi Li has devoted his research in reverse logistics, remanufacturing and recycling processes since 2000 with significant publication on E-Wast Value Chain model and optimization. He has collaborative relationships with Dell Computer, Image Micro Reverse Logistics, HP, and Caterpillar, for equipment remanufacturing and material recycling. Currently he is a President Endowed Professor of Manufacturing, with 20+ years of leadership and research/education experiences in the areas of material design and processing, additive manufacturing, remanufacturing/reverse logistics and recycling. He has 8 years of industrial experience serving as chief technology director. He is the founding director of the DoD I-DREAM4D National Consortium and DOE/NNSA CA2REERS Consortium, developing Innovation Driven Research/Education Eco-system for Advanced Manufacturing for Defense and Energy, in collaboration with ORNL, LANL and ARL. In this role, Dr. Li provided leadership to support the talent needs of the US military and the US Energy manufacturing operations. Through a collaborative effort, he leads a multidisciplinary team to prepare engineers and scientists who lead US manufacturing innovation. Dr. Li is also the inaugural director of the UTRGV Center for Advanced Manufacturing Innovation and Cyber System (www.utrgv.edu/CAMICS). Throughout his career, Dr. Li has maintained a distinguished scholarly record while devoting strong efforts to developing new programs that significantly benefit the institution and the manufacturing community. In various roles, he has conducted education, research, and development projects with more than $20 million in grants supported by Army, DoD, DOE, NNSA, NSF, Texas ATP/ARP, and EDA. His current research has resulted in multiple novel processes and materials. His research also includes numerous industry projects sponsored by industry partners such as Dell, NGC, Honeywell, Caterpillar, GE, BD, ALPS automotive, and others.
