Mr. Nagendra Kumar Bhoopanam has Doctorate technical qualifications in Coastal/ Ocean Engineering with specialised experience in Coastal Engineering having Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering completed in 1983. He has the reputation and international experience over a period of 25 years in the subject areas of coastal engineering planning, design, management and implementation of projects covering the specialist areas of coastal zone management, coastal disasters risk management, coastal land resources planning, harbours and port development, marine infrastructure development for seawater intake and outfall systems for desalination plants, power plants and waste water sea disposal , environment and natural resources protection and management. Some of his key elements of his experience include Conducting the relevant investigations related to coastal, oceanographic, hydro-graphic, morphology, ecosystem, and mathematical and physical model investigations for the coastal designs; Preparation of technical designs, cost estimation, design drawings, technical specification and bills of quantities, for implementation of the works; Advise on the improvements of coastal protection and improvement works to mitigate the coastal vulnerability impacts of climate change and anthropogenic and natural hazards; Economic/financial assessment, cost benefit analysis and social safeguards and environmental due diligence; Audit of design for safety and provide guidance accordingly to mitigate any potential hazards; Construction supervision quality control and guidelines for the construction work; Project design and implementation and report preparation. He has a patented concept of artificial sediment accumulator for artificial hydraulic soil-bed development to develop coastal, riverbank and hydraulic scour protection in any hydraulic environments
