Nils D. Christoffersen is the Executive Director of Wallowa Resources, an organization he joined in 1999 as its first Field Program Manager. Wallowa Resources is a community based non-profit working to sustain working lands and livelihoods, in Northeast Oregon. Over two decades, Mr. Christoffersen has managed the development of Wallowa Resources’ forest restoration, watershed stewardship and education programs, as well as their for-profit subsidiary investments in wood products, biomass and renewable energy. Working with the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest, he helped design early forms of forest collaboration, and remains engaged in the larger Northern Blues Forest Collaborative spanning both the Wallow-Whitman and Umatilla National Forests. Nils served on the Oregon Board of Forestry for 8 years, and chaired the Board’s Sub-Committee on Federal Forests. In that capacity he contributed to the USDA’s Shared Stewardship Agreement with Oregon, and served on the Governor’s Council on Wildfire Response. Nils also served as Chairman of the Board of Winding Waters Community Health Clinic – a federally qualified rural health, and on the National Commission on Science for Sustainable Forestry (2003-2008) and the Enterprise School Board from 2004-2017.
