Dr. Naik is an Electrical Engineer with expertise in Biomedical Instrumentation, Sensors, and Nonlinear Dynamics. Following 6 years in Department of Defense R&D, he has spent the past 10 years teaching and leading engineering programs at universities. In his current role, Dr. Naik serves as Associate Professor of Engineering and Program Chair for Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, and Biotechnology Engineering at Hawaii Pacific University (HPU). Dr. Naik has the following expertise: 1) Design and development of therapeutic ultrasound for medical applications 2) Artificial intelligence for healthcare solutions 3) Sensors and sensor systems 4) Microelectromechanical Systems (MEMS) 5) Applied Nonlinear Dynamics. In terms of his teaching and leadership capacity, he has led ABET accreditation efforts for HPU engineering programs, mentored students in research and career development, taught a variety of engineering courses, received awards for teaching and mentoring. For his research experience, he developed coupled MEMS resonators for energy harvesting, performed extensive theoretical and experimental studies of nonlinear dynamics in MEMS devices toward creating sensors and other applications, designed frequency down-conversion systems using coupled systems of oscillators, and have authored numerous publications on the above topics. Overall, Dr. Naik brings a strong blend of research experience, teaching excellence, and leadership skills to his role at HPU.
