bio
I am a second generation aircraft mechanic who has been in the aviation industry since 1989 where I attended Vincennes University in Vincennes, Indiana. I graduated from Vincennes University with Cum Laude honors earning an Associate of Science Degree in Aviation Maintenance Technology and an Airframe and Powerplant Certificate in 1991. I attended Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, from 1991 to 1993 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aviation Technology/Electronics. I have experience working on general aviation aircraft, including helicopters while working for Purdue University and the Indiana State Police. A start up airline, United Feeder Service operating as United Express, allowed me to help bring the fledgling commuter airline into existence and work as a mechanic and inspector during that time. My desire to work on larger aircraft drove me to work for American International Airways in Oscoda, Michigan, to overhaul landing gear and work line maintenance. After moving to the Detroit area, I also worked for Spirit and Northwest Airlines before working for an aviation maintenance technician school, MIAT College of Technology. At MIAT, I instructed courses in all disciplines before serving as the Assistant Director of Training, Director of Training, and ultimately the Vice President of Education. With the desire to return to actively working on aircraft, I joined Kalitta Air LLC as the Maintenance Control Manager in 2015, being promoted to the Director of Maintenance in 2019 where my primary responsibility was aircraft lifecyle management. I am an Eagle Scout and have enjoyed volunteering for a variety of organizations including school parent teacher organizations, recreational soccer coach and referee, Belleville Fire Auxiliary, Legacy Aviation Learning Center Board of Directors, and Experimental Sounding Rocket Association. I am a motivated leader and thrive on working with people to improve problem solving skills, troubleshooting, and ultimately defining and achieving success. Outside of aviation, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, gardening, and amateur rocketry as a member of National Association of Rocketry and Tripoli Rocket Association.
