Umar Taiwo Salman is a PhD Candidate in Electrical Engineering with over 10 years of experience in sustainable energy and power system integration. He holds an MSc in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University and a BSc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Lagos, Nigeria. Currently, Umar serves as a Research Scientist at the University of Connecticut and is the Co-founder and CTO of Mzansi Clean Energy Capital. His expertise spans power systems modeling, grid resilience, and the integration of distributed energy resources. Umar has authored over 12 papers on renewable energy optimization and has diverse industry experience, including roles at Ikeja Electrics as an Equipment Testing and Commissioning Officer. At the National Power Academy and Saudi Electric Service Polytechnic, he contributed significantly to renewable energy generation and battery storage research and education. Umar is a licensed member of the Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE) and the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN). He is also a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and its Power & Energy Society (PES).
