Xiao Du is the Chief Sustainability Officer at flatev ag, a food technology startup in Zurich. Prior to flatev, she worked for three years at Empa, Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology. Through her work experience in Switzerland and in the US, she helps businesses define sustainability strategies, identify risks and opportunities, and find valuable, practical business solutions, specifically on energy, waste management, sustainable products and supply chain. Her experience spans from incorporating the environmental assessment into new energy product development at Swatch Group, developing renewable energy project in the Northeast US, establishing risk assessment for Swiss small and medium enterprises with SwissMEM, conducting energy analysis and evaluating carbon footprint at Eileen Fisher, and examining the environmental impact and energy requirement of metal production for Siemens. She holds a PhD and masters in Environmental Science from Yale University in the US and a bachelor in geochemistry from University of Science and Technology of China.
