The province of Rio Negro has a strategic plan for hydrogen, and has among its main policies the care of the environment, seeking to contribute locally and globally with the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, and the achievement of carbon neutrality.
In 2021, an investment agreement was signed with the Australian company Fortescue to initially install a 2000 MW wind farm.
Also announced at COP 26 in Glasgow.
Intended for the production of hydrogen and green ammonia, to reach one million tons per year of nh3.
Considering numerous geographic, infrastructure, and natural resource factors, as indicated in the following points, especially the coastal region of the province of Rio Negro can significantly increase this capacity.
This significant amount of green ammonia will be mainly destined for the world market, oriented to applications such as fuel, energy vector, commodity for sectors such as fertilizer industries, iron and steel, cement, polyamide 6, among others.
Another quantity of hydrogen and green ammonia have a good perspective to supply the most populated area of Argentina, adjacent to the Paraná and de la Plata rivers, through maritime transport, and in gas pipelines.
Initially, a smaller amount of hydrogen will be produced in different locations in the province, in particular the "linea sur" , railroad of the province, linking the region adjacent to the Atlantic with the Andes mountain range, seeking to improve the quality of life, inclusion social, circular economy, development of industries by having abundant, clean and cheap energy.
