Stavros Vlachoyannis was born in Athens Greece in 1956 and is the son of Nicholas Vlachoyannis descendant of a Greek historic family which fought during the revolution of 1821. His grandfather Athanasios Rigos, from his mother side, was a Greek immigrant to the US in 1907 spending most of his life as a cattle ranger in the states of Utah and Nevada. In 1974, Stavros graduated from the 10th Gymnasium of Athens Greece and he ranked 32/1250 during the entrance examinations for a position as an undergraduate student in the Department of Physics (University of Athens). In 1976 he was accepted by three US universities, and he continued his studies in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics and Telecommunications at the Polytechnic School of Engineering which today is part of NYU. Parallel to his studies he worked as an assistant to his professor in various Computer Science courses. His excellence in software architecture and optimization techniques allowed him to attend graduate courses to prepare for a doctorate. In 1981 he was recruited as a young computer scientist by Advanced Technology Systems, a subcontractor of Hughes Aircraft Company for the implementation of the first US Navy F-18 flight simulator. He continues his studies in Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Structured software and Systems Architectures, as well as in Cybernetics for real-time decisions and control. Because of his involvement with pioneering work in computer Graphics he specialized in the field of Virtual Reality Worlds which later on in 1999 landed him in the position of General Manager of Silicon Technologies S.A, the Silicon Graphics and Cray Research branch for the Balkans region. In 1983 he was appointed by the Goldman Sachs Financial institution in the position of Analyst/MIS manager in the Financial Strategies Department servicing Goldman’s worldwide offices. A year later he was hired by the well-known Systems Integrator Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC), which appointed him in various Bell Laboratories AT&T projects. In 1984 he was elected Chairman of the Committee for Maintaining and developing complex software systems, as well as CSC Group Manager. In 1988 he was hired by Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC). During the eight years period (1988 - 1996) he worked as Consultant and Chief Architect for the design and implementation of complex Advanced Intelligent Networks (AIN) platforms which are used today in mobile and fixed line services provisioning. Participated and presented in many international conferences on telecommunications, system integration and scalable platforms for real time services. As a visionary, in 1989 he designed the first climate monitoring system AHEAD® for sustainable living to be used in homes and workplaces. This micro-platform provides the proper monitoring and control functions for the development of real-time and multimedia applications for the upcoming climate change in the 21st Century. Participates and speaks in International Conferences on Environmental changes and Sustainable Business Development via the use of new technologies. Since 1983, he has served as a senior member and executive in several companies in the US and Greece and has multiple international experiences for designing and implementing new ideas via the incorporation of new technologies. He has negotiated and signed various business agreements and created solid implementation technology teams. Finally, he actively participates in politics promoting the funding of research, the use of new technologies for e-governance, the use of analytics in public health, telecommunications towards 5G mobile technologies, as well as zero emissions energy solutions for the reduction of carbon dioxide in the planet. In his Greece based working Lab we works with his pears in their Manchester UK based Lab on the Prometheus energy generation - zero emissions – module as well as with other exotic technologies and systems.
